Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Sales Team Uncertainty

Shouldn’t the sales team be concerned with their numbers being so low? Who would sign something with Win in bankruptcy. Seems like a career limiting move.

Most of the

Sales reps I know sit around and don’t do much. I’m sure they love bankruptcy, bc they finally have an excuse to forecast $0.

We are certainly not renewing based on any offers with things being uncertain. We are actually considering breaking contract and moving to another carrier as to avoid a scenario like WOW air or Payless.

I’m a customer and I signed a renewal months ago and haven’t received my new rates. While I was waiting on my new discounts I was hit with a rate increase.

Don’t sign anything with them. Theyre beyond desperate.

Qualifying is going on for next year's all expense paid trips in various sales departments too. Apparently it's not too bad in Little Rock.

Top sales performers were treated to the annual all expenses paid resort trip last week. They loved bragging about the great time and wonderful gifts they were given on the company's bankrupt dime. Not a peep about it on Stream though.

One place where it's probably still viable to work in sales:

Residential sales: the old Concord, NC area where they finally started activating the fiber to the home system they acquired with their 2007 purchase of Concord Telephone -- and then ignored.

Given how rotten Spectrum (aka Charter aka Time Warner) is in this area, that's low-hanging fruit. I signed up for FTTH a few months ago. It's fantastic. (I only get data - no cable or phone)

My fiber connection is underground or on tree-free poles back to the CO. I figure it'll still be there long after this mess is settled.

That's a pretty good product to offer. There are many 1000s of homes around here that are prospects just waiting for the final 100' connection.

Very worried about our business's connections, though. I don't want to be that salesperson.

"Funny, but before the official news of the bankruptcy we had several (10-12) different people from Windstream playing Monty Hall trying to give us one time credits to renew."

It was clear that bankruptcy was eminent as soon as the judge issued his decision in the Aurelius decision last month (that Windstream was in default on its debt because of the Uniti deal)

Windstream violated the spirit of the debt covenants but many outside legal and banking observers had expected them to win because of the legal structure of the deal.

The judge looked past the technicalities: "walks like a duck, talks like a duck"

Dreadful reality landed like a big rock from space that day.

I'll bet your offers started the day after that decision!

I work for a big ILEC customer that was watching the drama. We talked about "Windstream circling the drain". Now we learn the bankruptcy's been assigned to someone actually named "Judge Drain".

Not sure what my bosses will do next re: Windstream.

I'd hate to be a Windstream salesperson.

Funny, but before the official news of the bankruptcy we had several (10-12) different people from Windstream playing Monty Hall trying to give us one time credits to renew. Started as higher dollar amounts and then slowly got lower amount offers. Now it's been like two weeks since anyone has contacted us.

Which sales team? RIS, BIS, you've got some retail stores, door to door? There's a lot of sales teams. They'd be the last to get cut right?
