Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

An organized wave or layoffs little by little?

When the time comes, and chances are the time will come sooner rather than later, how do you think they will perform the layoffs? Will they go in the manner of one, or a few organized waves or will they thin the herd in smaller portions as the demand for cost-savings grows?

Marketing budget was slashed for sales.increased spiffs for second quarter hoping to get sales in quickly . TT and rest of exec team is on holiday at pres club trip celebrating top salesmen for 2018 -the same year we went bankrupt. Crazy. Kool aid drinkers continue the line business as usual but signs of cutbacks is starting to show now and no one is questioning any of it.

They need to redo how all of the groups are setup. Too many directors with minimal employees under them. Why do you need a director over two direct reports? Or a senior director with two staff managers over a dozen employees? In all cases there is a closely related group everything can be collapsed into.

I think we'll be looking like we did before Paetec. One data group, not four. One engineering team, not three. One network support group, not five. Oh, and no more Sr Consultants who are just Ex-staff managers who should have been eliminated.

Our bosses are making us promises because they know all the redundancy will mean their jobs are up for elimination. Don't believe their lies. Ever caught them in a lie? They just make more.

I agree. I had an interview with another company that went great the other day. The woman seemed very impressed, and if they do lay me off I can collect whatever, or if any, severance they give me plus my new job pay. I am sick of going to work every week in fear of losing my job. I don’t read these postings because I think most people are on here to get a rise out of people. Nobody knows because this company is going to keep people until the end.

They will tell you that everything is fine, and then three to six months down the line, you are called into the office and then given this apology, and your severance whilst TT and his board make out like bandits. Right now, we have to decide. Do we hang on until the end in hopes that we will overcome this bankruptcy, or do we leave?

I will leave yet I love my job and colleagues. I don’t want to start over because I have been at Windstream for so long. I have great vacation time. The other benefits are horrible. In my town there are only a limited amount of places to work.

So when you land an interview it is huge, especially if it is somewhere in a middle sized company. It is bad to leave a team that is like a family, but you have to do what is good for your family. Sorry for the ramble, but I don’t know if other people feel the same.

I am looking for an organized wave and hopefully I can be in the first round just to get it over with if it happens. That hit or miss lay-off plan is too stressful

If you are in a group that you only work on a single geographical area, only a certain platform or vendor, or only do one stage of a larger process prepare to have your job change with in the next year or to not have one.
