Why is putting a freeze on ordering supplies such a big thing? Pissing off customers by not having bags is a good idea?
It really looks like the company is going bankrupt.

The only one worthy of respect was Mark Botini.
He knew this was all coming, he left rather than be a party to this sh--storm.
The Riggios ? Trash.
I think we stay, because we love our co-workers.
You get used to the routine & change can be frightening.
For a lot of us, B&N is that nest we just can't leave because we remember it as it was, back when Mr. Riggio, Steve & Mark Botini, were like beloved parents steering the ship in calm waters.
But then Dad started drinking, the folks got divorced and maybe you'd get a cheap card on your Birthday.
Seriously.
There are plenty of low, minimum wage jobs that’ll get you no where. You don’t have to stay atBarnes & Not Noble.
How much more do you folks need?
There're other jobs out there; to all my bookselling brothers and sisters, please start looking if you already haven't. Get your resume together, plus some references.
The bag thing is just humiliating, and the poor cashiers, like always, get the brunt of the customer's irritation or anger.
We look like id--ts, to be honest.
Have our morning meetings, sales numbers are no longer talk about. I asked my ASM how we were doing and was told “not good” I asked what percentage we were down I was told “a lot “things are bad when they won’t even tell us the figures.
Can anyone report how their store is doing with sales?

Cheap in desperate seems to sum Barnes & Noble up these days.
Just die already.
It doesn't cut it in a "high-end" shopping mall.
It makes you look cheap and desperate.
It works for those companies (Aldi's, Trader Joe's, and Costco) because they are offering the consumer a better price point. If I am spending $26 on a hardback and you can't give a bag the that retailer has an issue with priorities. I work at BN and it is embarrassing that we can't give a customer a bag yet BN can pay out cash dividend every quarter even after dismal sales reporting. Are we in business to sell or give dividend? Priorities anyone....
