Thread regarding Riverbed Technology Inc. layoffs

Free advice to TB

  • Sell SF, NetIM, Modeler, Portal

  • Hire witch doctor to fix SCON

  • Raise UCX from the dead

  • Keep AIX, AR, NP, SH and force PM to enforce scale, quality, documentation standards or boot them

  • build a real data platform with ML extensions

  • call McCanne and Day to come back and have real technical and forward thinking figures (or just hire people from the likes of RedHat, DataStax, Cloudera at the very least folks)

  • Get rid of the fake visionaries and ball-passing middle mgmt that came from SlopNet acquisition (super important)

  • Outsource SI’s job

  • Hire technical sellers because a “relationship sales person” really doesn’t make sense anymore in the age of social media / twitter world. C’mon, use your noodle on this one

  • Tell TB “sorry” but the billionaire and (current) millionaire leadership are just wrong and we need leaders that actually understand how technology changes lives and not how technology helps me pay for my mansion

Here's some additional advice:

  • Stop letting guys who lives in an ivory tower dictate comp plans or sales operational strategies. Reading a "fish" book means nothing, it should only be taken as academic because every company is different.

  • The folks in these ivory tower should really obtain field level, unadulterated, unfiltered commentary because they (the ivorians) have never sold anything or hasn't sold something in decades. Get off your asses and use "words" (not filtered PPT's) to figure out a correct path.

  • Stop being literal with the term "data driven" - it's not meant to replace common sense thinking. If you want to run the company in a 100% data driven way then fire anyone who's a carbon-based life form because we are not robots.

  • Break down the lame ProSvc silo already. For some reason this team thinks their "customizations" are worthy of some patent. There are literally high school student doing some of the things they are doing and sharing them with the world. This attitude is not consistent with the (tech) world we live in today. Remember, sharing is caring - did your elementary school teachers not tell you this?

  • Stop ruling by fear or confusion - both are equally destructive. Fear in the sense you'll "lose your job" when, in reality, Riverbed doesn't want you to leave. And stop ruling by confusion (the default behavior) because that only exposes why the folks on this forum believes you're not leaders but rather a slapchop sales person.

  • Understand that people are a lot smarter than you are and do not assume you're thoughts are correct. Again, use "words" to discuss this and not confusion or fear.

For those that state that most of the things said here are not facts/informational then, as yourself, how does one obtain facts in company run non-transparency and ambiguous information? The answer is, you can't and hence the suggestions posted here.

Come on. This isn’t good enough for an independent post. Not funny, not informational.
