It’s obvious that the company needs cash in order to operate and navigate through Ch 11, so I consider the possibility of assets being spun off to be very strong. Any idea what assets are they most likely to sell and what impact could that have on the workers in terms of layoffs?

I’d go with Ilec. CLEC has obstacles
The CLEC side will be sold off, think of it as Windstream buying Paetec, Earthlink, Nuvox, etc. Someone will think they can take that customer base, remove overhead, and monetize it (just like Windstream thought they could do when they purchased the aforementioned companies).
If we sell off an asset or a network, those teams and employees will go with it. Some people before mentioned ILEC, CLEC, Fixed wireless, Allworx, WE on the enterprise/ wholesale. Problem overall is most of the outside plant, ILEC, and CLEC assets don't have alot of value. Most of this has depreciated over time. Who wants to buys a 5E TDM switch or an ATM DSLAM right now. This network is littered with this trash.
Pick a side CLEC or ILEC being Enterprise (CLEC) or CSMB (ILEC).
One of them is going.
