No layoffs for Group Managers, Directors here at IDC

Why Oracle has cutting down the resources who are not having a respectable Salaries.

Why Group Managers, Directors are not asked to leave? They are not contributing at all. Most of them do work from home or tjey just come at 10 am and leaves by 4 pm. These people are just good enough to safe guard their jobs. They can’t even protect their own team members.

These managers and directors are just Yes man to their reporting managers. They are far away from the technology and other real aspects of the Product Development. They don’t have any idea how their product is performing in the market.

Oracle’s layoff strategy is flop just like its Products !

I left oracle after spending close to a decade. The director in india I worked with , tried to get a job outside and he couldn't because he is not technical. All he does it whenever our US based senior director comes , he goes to airport to pick him up and then arranges cabs for it , in effective like an assistant. So if you let these kind of non-contributing directors go and keep ICs who can work and contribute will help ORCL

I recently quit Oracle IDC after spending more than a decade there. I can say that I learned a lot and look at my time at Oracle favourably.

Towards the end there was too much uncertainty and negativity. The learning also stopped and it was time to move on (before being asked to go!).

I think there are too many engineers just getting by and not pulling their weight. Most have lost the will to learn and innovate. IMO an overall shake up is required at all career levels in IDC and not just directors and VPs.

Further, In the current state of affairs in Oracle India it will be difficult for Oracle to retain/attract good talent. The only talent that will remain in 3 months will be the not so good ones.

In IDC, the product support managers and directors are in the same boat. Their contribution is nothing and they do not even know 'ABC' of the product they are supporting. They have 2 to 3 'Yes man' in the team and they depend on these folks all the time. Rules will not apply to these 'Yes people' whereas for others these manager put all conditions like no work from home, even 5 mins late, we get an email from managers. Oracle can save tons of $$$ by getting rid of these so called product experts

anyone would agree to this, that the env'nt here lacks techno-crates & risk taking folks for nurturing skills. most of M are saving their A$$ by not doing any of this.

managers and directors in oracle not usefull for product enhancement or market growth. just people mangers or do routine stuff. Their contribution towards production maturity and market grabbing is negligible.

Also this IDC management does not provide correct reason for criteria of RIF.
