Sadly, they are not the people who will be laid off, judging by what we have seen so far. Ford has so many useless managers who have no idea what they're doing and who only got where they are because they know the right people.
Getting rid of them would affect the operations in no way and it would save Ford money. They are the true fat here.
But no. They survived every layoff before, and they will survive this one. And then they wonder why Ford is going down.
For sure they've overlooked a director who has been lying, playing favorites, and wasting billions. Truthful accountability should have had him and his loyalists out long ago.
Honestly - they can let go 50% of the senior exec lineup and nobody would notice. What a waste.
I hear you. It is not just managers that need trimmed. It is the Ford way, he who does the least is valued the most. Incredible amounts of money is routinely flushed down the drain. Millions of dollars in shelf ware is purchased. Millions of dollars are routinely spent on purchased services as none of the Ford team members can or will do their job. One team in my area has 8 Ford team members taking the credit for all the work the one purchased service (contractor) on the team is doing. The newly minted LL5 asked why the LL6 had been for years paying 200 per hour for the purchased service and terminated the contract. It soon became apparent that the team could not do the work and the purchased service is back for 3 more months, and 8 people are still not doing work. It should be a no brained to release the entire team LL6 included and hire the purchased service to replace them all. #aintGonnaHappen
For me, the elephant in the room is why are employees being let go when a bunch of I.T. work is moving to India? This is a huge slap in the face. Cost goes down but quality does too.

Same at GM. They had some really questionable decisions both in 2009 and this round.
