Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Respect for the Individual

One of founder Sam Walton's three core beliefs, this mission statement has become so twisted and manipulated that its words and actions have no connection with each other. Here are some examples of the abominations I saw during my years with Walmart:

  • Management visciously harrassing, coaching and firing people they personally disliked; the work performance was exemplory, but they were targeted anyway. -----YES, THIS DOES HAPPEN.

  • Management favoring and promoting friends with little to no seniority nor skills.

  • Management bald-faced lying when asked direct questions and making up policies to support their wrongful actions.

  • Management personally attempting to block a terminated employee's unemployment claim. **This is a fact. A fellow former co worker recorded his three way phone trial, asked the presiding judge to clarify the language in the case paperwork, and got it in the court transcript the manager's name behind the litigation (same guy in the phone trial representing the plaintif, funny enough LOL). This revealed an obvious bias such that the judge used it in determining his findings.

'Respect for the Individual'? Nope. Not since Sam and Helen were running things.

Now it's m ore like 'You're Less Than Scum'.

I've worked in more than one store and all of the stores are the same.

I've seen people complain and report managers to ethics hotline and market managers. There is always retaliation.

It's a good old boys club .

Yes agree totally. See it everyday. Lies, lies, and more lies. People keep calling in and are late.Store Mgrs approve absences and don't terminate those at or over 5. Those who have absences approved are the pets, people who have no work ethic, their favorites. Management harasses long term associates, creates "LIES" about them and coaches them just to get rid of them. All the high school classmates, and "friends" get promoted and those who are really qualified are coached to the point that management makes it a hostile work environment so people (long term associates) want to quit or are fired over "trumped" up lies and coachings. Yes, it does go on and if you don't believe it, you are living in a bubble. Management makes up lies and when confronted with their lies, they make up a story to cover their own behinds. They tell you, that you are mistaken and that you are BITTER. Nope, just call the truth where I see it. I wish someone from Home Office would tour stores and really talk to associates to really find out the real truth about what goes on. When Market Mgrs. come around, management is on their best behavior and act like the little store is perfect and we are all ONE BIG HAPPY FAMILY. NOT true. We all need to start speaking the truth and emailing Home Office to let then know the lies we live everyday. I for one are fed up with the lies, favoritism and harassment, hostile work environment many of us live with everyday. Its time we let our voices be heard and tell Walmart enough is enough. We demand to be treated with respect and fairness !

Every one of these statements are the exact same thing that happened at our club. Our club is being run by high school classmates, fishing buddies etc. of our our manager. They as a group gang up on associates they don't like and manage to get them all fired!!
