Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Sales worse than ever

Well, for those hoping for a miracle - it's not happening. Sales in my store are worse than ever. I wanted to wait and see if there would be an improvement since the so called "save" of the company by Eddie, but after several weeks not only is there no improvement, but things are worsening.

No chance we survive more than a few months like this.

@qsq You just now realized how they work pricing for 'events'? They always take the price up to promote an "additional" savings type offer. It has been a very long time since they actually gave any kind of of meaningful additional discount. At least lately they might allow a very slight discount instead of pricing up 15% to offset the supposed 15% additional off discount. All marketing smoke and mirrors if not outright fraud to fool the customers. Aren't there supposed to be laws against false advertising and taking advantage of customers? Maybe that doesn't apply to 'members'.

The customer has already voted with their $$ that Sears is no longer a relevant shopping destination....hence the bankruptcy. If anything, the assortment, selection, and availability of merchandise has further eroded. Why would anything be different?

Sears and Kmart, both do not have anything I want or need at the prices they sell for.

That will be the ultimate downfall. Poor reputation as a place to shop

They jacked the prices up on everything for this last friends and family sale it was almost embarrassing when people came back for the sale i told them about before the left. Come back Sunday to save 15 dollars on a 1500 fridge and that was almost every item then prices immediately dropped back on Monday. They should announce that we're likely to liquidate again in the news headlines that brought in the most foot traffic I've seen in awhile

Cutting hours and raising prices it is no wounded sales are on the decline. I doubt very much Eddie has any kind of plan except to screw the associates. It is a shame the way he has run these stores in the ground.

Belden Mall doing a very brisk business. We’ve been circulating flyers, promoting events like friends and family etc.

Your guys’ SGM needs to be more active and follow the plan as layer out by HE. Otherwise I have no sympathy for you. Our sales are up 30% ytd.

Ya our store has got to be doing close to half the sales in appliances from the year before and I don't even know about mattresses but it's way down I know I've seen tens of thousands of cancellations in the last couple months from pushed out delivery dates and I heard the store I'm at lost almost 500 grand last year. At least we have a badass new name transformco now though that's exciting

@uno Agree 100%. All anyone has to do is look around the stores.

Sorry to break it to you but there was not real "go forward" plan other than, cut and bleed the companies dry and then shut them down, period.

Even if customers do come into the store there is no one to wait on them or help them. Hours and staffing are still being cut. This leads to the perception that the stores are not being saved. Staffing the stores should have been the first priority. So much for the go forward plan.

Sears doesn't advertise and unless one physically drives to or walks past a mall, you wouldn't know there was Sears store in the vicinity. Week nights are joke at my store, I can count on one hand the number of times we have had more than 10 customers in the store at one time. We could open at noon on Saturday rather than 10:00 a.m and still achieve the same numbers
