Thread regarding Ford layoffs

You'll never have it this good again

As someone who has advised auto workers and salaried personnel over the years, some observations I'll share with you.

~Auto salaries and wages are the highest wages you'll probably earn the rest of your life. Make changes in your lifestyle now.

~If you've put away money for retirement, now is a good time to examine your options regarding investments.

~The health insurance at the Big 3 is top notch. Your future employer's will pale in comparison.

~Lump sum vs. pension payments? Each situation is different, although for most, a guaranteed pension is probably the best bet vs. trying to manage the money yourself.

~You'll be amazed how much harder the work is on the outside of Ford. Less vacation, pay and benefits, although you might also find in less bureaucratic and life-changing!

The best to all of you.

What a load of BS. This guy has obviously never seen any life outside of his Ford bubble

When you look at contractor jobs at the suppliers, they tend to pay salaries that are lower than at Ford. Throw in their medical and less than adequate 401-k plans, they definitely pale to Ford or GM. My recommendation is to start looking for a job now when the economy is going good. Many of the folks who are getting laid off are taking an early retirement anyway. Jobs are out there, but the gravy days at Ford are gone.

Is this post from that same financial analyst guy who used to work at ford and is now peddling his services all over LinkedIn to capitalize on peoples misfortunes? Get outta here. He looks like Bob Saget.

Spoken like a true ford lifer. It's a big world out there. Fwiw, European companies generally have very good benefits and work environments.

This sounds like someone who has only worked at Ford. I had much better health insurance from a company which was owned by the French. You never know in this ever changing world of ours, if salaries might be better or health insurance might be better, etc. Perks and benefits..who knows? There are companies like Amazon out there where the perks and benes are great.

Not sure what the purpose of this post was, other than to make people feel bad.
