Thread regarding CenturyLink layoffs

10 year trend

https://www.marketwatch.com/investing/stock/ctl/charts

July 1, 2012 CTL closed at $40.40, today closed at $11.91. Put things in even bigger perspective in 2012 you could still participate in ESP (Employee Stock Program). 50% discount on stock purchase those that did on that day have lost nearly half. I don't care who you are Craft, Management, Jeff Storey or Maxine this isn't good.

respectfully. QWEST labor units and their poor performance across all metrics, and year over year/decade-long poor service delivery to your customer base was the cause for the final stock de-valuation, before Qwest was purchased. yes Qwest was purchased, not merged. Qwest units have been an anchor/sinkhole to CTL. Those qwest folks can't innovate to the next level thinking required. expect those ILEC landline units to be sold off to parties unk, with L3 keeping the rebranded CLEC/last mile/enterprise facing profit centers. Thank you Qwest ILEC folks for playing (the drag your feet game), no seat at the big kids table for you. Remember CTL has no customers, it's just an amalgam of state owned entities.

No really it was Dark fiber and Nacchio selling off the money making assets, not converting analog Cell to Digital, selling Dex and other assets to pad numbers and sales that he was caught falsely stating.

CTL purchased Qwest or Merged and didn't know what they were getting into the same as L3 now, RBOCS are federally regulated and you can't just say screw you to customers, were a operative utility which is why they want to get away from it. Uncle Sam can put his foot down any time. L3 would much rather have someone else be responsible for 911 and emergency systems that they have to maintain. They will do everything they can to make the current system look obsolete in hopes to get relief from the FCC.

Finally, someone who gets it. CenturyLink is merely a holding company. When they say they have no customers, they really aren't lying. They are a holding company to the many companies that do have some customers left. Not many, but some.

I am sure if anybody could get it out of Lawler on his way out he would tell you they want to be a fiber only company. Although you can rest assured he is sworn to secrecy.

Kinda of reminds me of Qwest right before the MERGER with CenturyLink, stock fell to just about a buck.

Or $6.83 on 3-31-2011...after several years in the $5-7 range.
