Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Well we survived another week, three more before all clear

Friday is a freebie, morning time wasting meetings, then Power Up time, then Huddle time, then Miller time. LL3 teased us with a reDesign meeting which was just repurposed PowerPoints with no real content. We are on a journey. We will reach some base camp at some unspecified future date when we figure out what makes sense. We could tell the LL3 was phoning it in.

At a bar with some Ford and non-Ford folks right now, tipping my beer to all those out there playing "the waiting game". Be strong, take care.

One or two more months of toture. There is nothing SMART about how this is being handled. Do you really expect the employees who are staying to be excited after hanging on a fishing hook for 8 months? There will be scars and it will be visible both in morale and productivity.

Extended to June/July? Say it isn’t so! I had a feeling that they weren’t anywhere near completion.

one of our senior leaders said he carried a cheat sheet in his pocket to keep all the terminology straight (expeditions, base camps, Yada Yada), the nosebleed level gets upset when he slips up and uses traditional terminology like planning and engineering. We were joking that he was probably playing buzzword bingo with his cheat sheet, he laughed and said How did you know?

Guess that’s what happens when the nosebleed levels spends their time on creating cutesy terminology and marketing Instead of focusing on Getting Er Done.

It won’t be over for years. This is just one in a line of necessary layoffs through the next recession. Competition is fierce. Industry is still adapting too slow to market changes. Millennials and subsequent generations have completely different interests in transportation. Baby boomers are feeding the profit-generating trucks and SUVs right now. It’s going to be a reckoning in the next decade in automobiles.

Three weeks before all clear. That is what I thought too. Until today. Was told that the time was extended to June/July. I guess preparation was not in place for everyone.
