Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Why are you not looking for a new job?

So many people complaining here, yet I bet majority is not looking for a new job. Why? Does anybody actually think Mattel will still be here in four-five years?

This company is going downhill so fast that I wouldn't be surprised if we went the way of Toys R Us within two-three years, max.

Be smart, and be out of here before then.

At my age, I'm hoping that I can stay for a few more years and get my severance for my retirement.

JH isn't the only one in HW to alienate licensors. The company almost didn't get a 'valued' license because they didn't want to deal with this manager, excuse me, recently promoted to senior manager.

I'm going to ride out your BS 3 to 4 year garbage making fat stacks and retire happy as a pig in s**t.

You sorry a_s complainers need to get a life and give up your pipe dream that you actually have a clue with what's going on at Mattel. Move on Losers.

Onward

For Christ's sake, take control of you life, show some initiative, some spine. Are you really so timid and meek that you can't overcome your amygdala's irrational fear of change and take it upon yourself to do something to better your life? Sad.

Of course most aren't looking for a new job. Proactively seeking change goes against human nature

"We are hardwired to resist change – it’s natural. Part of the brain – the amygdala – interprets change as a threat to the body and releases the hormones for fear, fight or flight. Your body is actually protecting you from change."

I DID look for a new job. After Mattel let me go I spent six months and all of my severance trying to find something new.

I tried other toy companies. I tried other industries. I even gave entertainment a try (I had a clipping from when I'd been in Variety. You can see my trying real hard to smile in it).

But Mattel is the only place I've ever been. It's all I know. And no one wants that right now.

No one - - except for Mattel. So when they came calling and asked if I wanted to serve my old masters again I said, "YES SIR!" They didn't care that I lost the Monster Jam and DC licenses because I alienated the licensors with my superior attitude. All they cared about was if I'd do as I was told.

I wonder if I can lose the Marvel and Star Wars licenses now. Wish me luck!

It's great to be back. I can tell I'm respected.
