To clarify and stop the misspread of information— the severance policy (last updated in 2017) states “part time, seasonal, and temp employees (including full time temp employees) of SEA and idenepent contractors are NOT ELIGIBLE to receive severance pay under this policy.”
You only get severance if you are laid off.
And another thing to keep in mind, a policy they put in place in 2017 and never told hourly staff about it—if you resign, you will not receive any unused vacation. In addition, once you give notice, you’re not allowed to take any vacation you may have earned. So if you decide to leave the company, take all of your vacation before you give notice. And then you don’t really have to give notice because they don’t owe you anything. When I leave, my last day will be the day I tell them.
