Thread regarding Ford layoffs

To the poster who asked what does Ford Land provide that can't be outsourced? Cushy jobs for incompetent Ford family members and cronies.

On average my tickets to fordland either never get resolved or take months. Even simple things. We asked them to come take a look at our HVAC as one half of the building was freezing. It took approximately 4 months just for them to send a guy and then convince the guy that something was indeed wrong and he should go check the boilers. And behold they never turned one of the boilers on. We have tools in our building so we end up just doing everything ourselves.

You know one poster brought up a good point. Just like GM’s former Argonaut Realty Division. What the Hell does Ford Land Management provide, that can not be outsourced? If you are not directly related to producing the product, you should have been eliminated 10 years ago. A major US construction and real estate services firm could handle this function , without their own division, and building. What is the headcount of this staff? Sounds like a good place to roost and collect for 30 years. You sure do not have to worry about cost increases, parts shortages, recalls, or shutting assembly plants down. This is right up there with the UAW Training Centers. What the Hell are you teaching? To collect, and collect more. Want a Training Center? Go to college. The BS continues.

Ah jeez louise we have the same problem. Moved three times in a span of less than a year. They all need a bouncy ball to sit on, a desk that adjusts to laying on floor to work, sitting on bouncy ball, standing. Whine, moan, whine moan all day long.

Yeah I won’t drink the water in the building, most of us just bring bottles/jugs from home.

Yeah the “cafeteria” is atrocious, most bring a lunch in a cooler.

Yeah the “refrigerator” is atrocious, most bring a lunch in a cooler.

Yeah the temperature control is awful, most bring in a sweater and a USB fan.

Yeah the noise control is awful, most bring in ear plugs.

Yeah there is no safe place to stretch your legs outside, most just take a short drive to a park and walk.

The “newly refurbished” building did not address anything but cosmetics (bouncy balls, ambiance, and more big screen monitors in meeting rooms.). Water, temperature control, noise control, safety remain the same. The off gassing from all the furniture and flooring is quite bad in the reburbished buildings.

Just pxssing away money on moving people around

We had a bunch of special, young FCG snowflakes complain to Ford Land about our building. Water quality, air quality, noise, temperature, ad nauseam. They kept complaining. Suddenly, everyone has to move to a different building that is the same...a standard Ford Dearborn building. In fact, the "new" building needs extensive rehab and upgrades (Audio, video, water fountains, etc)...it isn't even ready for occupancy as it has been vacant and is still set up for the 1990s. The move is a huge cost (unbudgeted, unforecasted), huge disruption to workflow, etc. The move will take months. I had a great laugh the other day when people came in to our building and wanted to see it because they are moving in after us. So, the snowflakes complain, everyone has to move, and 'lo and behold, Ford Land is moving people right in after us. I guess the water and air quality fixed themselves? Hmmmm....

I thought Baby Head is from Steelcase. What is this Herman Miller stuff. One point. Steelcase had the sharpest and cleanest semi trucks in the 70-90’s. Great looking vehicles.

The new boxes I've seen around here are Herman Miller. Pricey stuff $$$

If there's one thing I won't question Jimmy on, it's furniture. The man knows his spinny chairs.

But how is Steelcase going to sell any office furniture if we don't do a full remodel of our offices?

Oh and I'm sure Jimmy has completely divested all of his interests in Steelcase by now, heh.
