@YWI8Nv0-8sbn That would require some incredible foresight from Bill Jr. I don't think he has it in him. However, it is a very interesting theory.
I think what @8bac was saying is They want Hendricks to smell like a rose, so eventhough he is behind the scenes agreeing with and creating the execution plan. They are pinning all the actions on Hackett. So Heinrich’s can be presented as the savior.
It does make some sense, but why would you let an interim CEO completely restructure how the company operates just to see him go? That's a lot to dump in Hinrichs's lap.

In the last town hall you could totally see that Hendricks is the next CEO . Farley was deferring to him instead of trying to upstage him (as is the norm). It was clear Hackett was the third wheel, soon to be dumped.
I think there's a decent chance furniture jim may just be a cleanup guy to get through the layoffs. He got the CEO position for a reason, and he has a history of deep cuts at Steelcase. I've heard speculation that he's going to be out fairly soon after this smart redesign c-ap is complete, and I wouldn't be surprised if that happens.
Bill Ford has said in interviews that he has total confidence in him, even as the stock price tanks and the company seems to have little more direction than it had under Fields. Why would he say that? Maybe because behind the scenes he's agreed to stand behind him and offer support through the layoff process no matter what. But after that, jimmy will pull the ripcord on the ole golden parachute, and we'll probably get Hinrichs in the CEO position to be a true leader, as opposed to just taking the heat through the layoff process as jimmy agreed to do.
Complete speculation and I have nothing to back it up, but doesn't it make some sense? jim has set himself up as the CEO known for doing the dirty work no one else is willing to. And if this pans out to be true, I have even less respect for him. He will have built a whole career on laying people off.
The media has referred to Jimmy as "cerebral" and "high minded". I am starting to think he's more like Cliff Clavin. I read the huddle and I dont get the impression anymore that he is a thinker of big thoughts. I just think he's full of sh--, which is amusing when its your neighbor. Buts this goofball's decisions hurt people and the company. Macro economic theory formula: 2 years on the job + stock price in the toilet + bad product lineup + morale in the can = guy who is full of sh--.

Boycotting in principle. He speaks of inclusion and equality and being horrified at treatment of women in KC plants but perpetuates the good ole boy club, takes no real action, just papers walls with slogans and broadcasts himself on a continual loop reading the slogans.
If Mary Barra sent out weekly Circle emails the men would mock her and her knitting Circle. Yet Hackett can send out weekly Huddles?
