Answer a few questions and you will have your answer. Do you respect and admire Ford leadership? If you model your behavior after Ford leadership would you be proud of your actions? Would your mother be proud?

As much as people think they are their own person, most inevitable conform to the mold. Birds of a feather flock together. Your early career choices have long term impacts on your career trajectory

at age 35 with an MBA from a top school I would strongly suggest considering looking elsewhere - do you want to come to Ford now (it is a big unknown how your career will/can progress given the disruption in the organization)?

Ford is the definition of a company run by clueless MBAs. If you want to learn from them, go for it. Otherwise, I'd go to a startup where I could have more impact on the business outcomes.

I'd take the job, but I would try and save 30 to 50 percent of my pay. Remember, why are you working?

You can but just be aware that the automotive industry doesn't pay as well as Tech industry and seems to have layoffs every 5-6 years that corresponds with the sales cycle. From having several classmates who graduated with MBAs and joined tech startups, the pay was much higher and the environment was much more casual instead of hierarchical (you likely won't progress as quickly careerwise at Ford compared to the FAANG)

Ford has some exciting products that haven’t launched yet, if this paradigm shift to EV gets some traction I think the company will be on its way to some big profits . Not a big fan of the way They are exicuting the smart redesign though.

Not all engineering is a dead end. Powertrain Engineering is still going strong. EPE (Electrified Powertrain Engineering) is the wave of the future right now.

More clarification on the LL levels:;LL6 is supervisor, LL5 starts the management level.

It's been my experience that few companies pay as well as the automotive companies. If you are hiring into Planning, maybe you can effect some real change in a few years. The ever-changing vehicle program studies without sufficient detail that constantly flow from planning to engineering are one of the most inefficient processes in the company IMHO.

Good luck with your decision. I don't think you can go wrong deciding to take a job offer with Ford. Even if your first few assignments aren't a good fit for you, the company is still big enough that there are a lot of options for future job opportunities in different areas. And despite all the griping on this website and the questionable leadership style of our CEO, Ford is still full of bright even brilliantly talented employees who work hard and are enjoyable to be around.

Sure, why not? I don’t know of any companies these days that aren’t vulnerable to layoffs

If you are a female or a minority, I would look elsewhere.

An MBA in Product Development (Planning and Finance) has a good chance to apply some of the things learned in school, these are areas where you can also learn a lot...2 places where you can make a difference. In about 3-5 years you will learn pretty much all three is to learn and will either need to ask for a promotion or leave the company.BEWARE of the corporate politics, backstabbing and rigidity of higher ups...Engineering is a dead end. GSR 1 to 8 - General Salary Roll = working minions, LL6 to 1 - Leadership Level, management roll. Hope it helps.
