I was employed by Blue Cross/CaliforniaCare Health Plans/Wellpoint/Anthem for 31 years. In the end when I retired it was not near the company as when I started in 1984 however I would not change my experiences there. I had no idea about insurance when I started and I was trained in a better way than any schooling would have done.
I am thankful for my time there and the friends I made. In 31 years I only had one director I did not care for and a staff that was great to work with.
To the person who retired, Congratulations to you! Quite an accomplishment and near short of a miracle recently and certainly tomorrow.
I second your sentiments regarding the environment over the years.
I am unsure why so much resentment towards your post, clearly there is a deeper issue with the commenters. One can only assume, jealousy. It's NOT the retires fault, Anthem is now treating employees like this. Those negative comments are clearly misdirected!

It is very sad to me to read comments like this from someone who obviously has no feelings for anyone but themselves. Where is your empathy for your fellow Anthem associates, some of which probably worked with you before you retired but which are now losing their jobs, as well as those which came after you? And why do you not care what the company you gave so many years of your life to has now become? You are a pitiful, self-centered person, and I'm very glad I didn't ever have to work with you!
How nice of you to have the choice to retire. Probably some worthless analyst with knowledge of some archaic system that nobody noticed you till you could slip out. Leave your well wishes for Glassdoor.
You are certainly among few of the lucky ones and happy for you. I just wished I could say the same for most of us who feels like we have a target on our backs and just waiting to be the next one on the chopping block.
How nice for you. There's thousands more who have nothing to back them up and they are fighting for their lives. They'll be low income workers, with COBRA insurance or no insurance looking for work in a flooded market.
