Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Is it too much to ask for a thank you?

For a long term employee that has not had more than a 2% increase in many years you would think this company (r.m.) would at least take the time to tell me your doing a great job, you work really hard, you are loyal and reliable, and a trusted member of the team, you help your peers, and go above and beyond for the regional when asked.

I know I am not going to get a raise and no matter how well financially you do your bonus will be disapointting, is it to much to ask for a thank you, or any acknowledgement other than RM posting some b---s--- and reminding us of the deadline to sign off???

Yes, saying thank you is too much to ask. It would imply you have some value beyond being paid help.

This is a thankless company, they do not appreciate all the hours, dedication & hard work store managers put in, especially small stores who are expected to do all jobs demanded, class adoptions, AR, training, webinars, now core pos, & provide customer service with 1 or 2 staff members, oh yeah shipping & receiving, graduation regalia,HO is clueless as to what we do

Especially upper management. Good luck getting a thank you or even a Follett value card!

Unless your compra ratio is over the accepted ‘average’ in which case you receive nothing! I received kind words for the first time in a decade in management so I can only commiserate and state this is a business. You are at best a statistic. Or to paraphrase David Mamet, ‘Coffee is for closers!’ Meaning unless you shine, you’re just another mouth to feed.

Culture starts at the top. Your RM gives you no props because they get none from GVP's. Not sure what the GVP's do. The only props you'll get are from your peers via the Thank You board on the Quad.

I did hear that we are all getting a 2% raise for the second year in a row. That's not great but it's better than getting nothing.
