So many people losing their livelihoods - I still don't believe this was the only possible solution. Maybe the easiest one for management at Fiat Chrysler, but definitely not the only one.

Truly sad for any individual involved but what should the company do when the demand for the vehicle assembled there is reduced where the third shift is not needed. On the plus side is that these employees have legal representation to help them as they are union members. This gives them many advantages over others that are not so fortunate. They have several option available to them, even if the situation is painful.
