Is everyone taking the time to post a thoughtful review on glassdoor on what it is really like to work at GM? I'm hoping that honest reviews will heed as a warning to anyone applying to the many jobs they have posted there.

If you're in IT, there really is no upside to working at GM.
(1) Compensation? Well below market rate especially if you're in Austin, a growing tech hub. Amazon, Apple, Facebook & Google have all built offices in Austin and countless smaller startups.
(2) Easy work? This is only an advantage if you're a lower performer who wants to be a GM lifer. High performers get bored and frustrated. And if you ever want to get a job outside GM, you will struggle to fill your resume with in-demand skills.
(3) Job Security? Lol no
(4) Brand recognition? Tech interviews tend to be more about your hard skills than where you worked. This is evidenced by the presence of coding and whiteboarding challenges during interview.
Make up you own fin mind. Do not rely on others to make it for you. Get some balls or tits and move on. Enough.
Great idea to post to Glassdoor a candid review of GM. Keep in mind that although you need to enter login with your ID to post there, it is completely anonymous--your ID is never shown in the reviews.
The time off with family and holidays are worth there weight in gold. Most places do not offer that unless I am wrong? Work life balance is worth all the BS and the pay was decent , I remember l had to listen to so many people b--ch every day how bad they had it at GM and it made me want to puke, those same people got to retire , they made it ! I wish I was so lucky. I worked in terrible places before GM and when I made it in , it was a clean and safe professional environment. Man I miss it alot.
I posted my honest review a few months ago. The only good thing about working for General Motors is their compensation package. Horrible company to work for otherwise.
