Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

So tired of this

We have a new manager, and he keeps asking us to be more agile all the time. He's like a baby who's discovered a new word and can't get enough of it.

So there you go folks, we all need to be more agile and all of Mattel's problems will be solved. Being agile is the solution to everything for him.

I'm so tired of managers who only know buzzwords and have no idea how to actually do their jobs...

They'll let anyone who kisses enough booty get promoted, regardless of interaction with direct reports, other groups, licensors, etc. When a group that's currently 'rolling strong' starts to crashes, you'll know who to blame.

You think it's easy to get up in front of the entire company and speak for 25 minutes without actually saying anything of substance? That takes real skills, this is why guys like RD are so successful.

Coined words and phrases repeated as if they are an actual strategy you’re not getting is just another sign of a leader-less, lemming-inspired culture. Those managers demonstrate their lack of understanding and original thought every time they are recited. I can’t figure out how those individuals don’t see how weak they appear to the masses. Maybe let’s start the equivalent of a swear jar for Mattelisns and raise some money for charity.

You sound more fragile than agile. S--- it up, Buttercup. This is the new improved Mattel. Mattel rules! Mattel forever! Number one! Ichi Ban! Here to stay! Best in class! First-rate! High quality! Leading the way! The one to watch! Setting the pace! Innovative! Disruptive! Aggressive! Passionate! Magical! Viral!

Don’t be fooled. They just don’t want you to question them on their complete lack of strategy.

“best practices” that always irked me. especially when my directors best practice was online shopping for his wardrobe.

Next time he uses the word say, "Can you give me an example of how that looks please?" Then ask for feedback on your agility. I was so tired of being expected to do work that my manager didn't even know how to do. No guidance. No feedback. Managers love to throw around the words, but most won't come along for the ride.

I feel like "agile" and "Mattel" are two words that don't really go together.

Ask yourself if it is “High Risk”. It seems a couple of words stick with certain teams once their new big bosses discover them.

You sound more agitated than agile. Have a blue pill and a free cup of Koolaid.
