Thread regarding Ford layoffs

How big will be these layoffs in May?

If this is even truth doe anyone know more on these May layoffs? Is It a mass wave? What numbers of affected employees are we talking about? What locations could be hit? Are we talking plant closures or What? Any info would be beneficial at this point.

Not sure what you mean by cost reduction it’s a 10-15% blue badge headcount reduction resulting in billions of yearly savings. Doubt it will effect operations or strategy this is much needed. Morale short-term is obviously poor.

The China for China and China Speed bothers me. In the last few months I have seen China completely dismiss GPDS and basic engineering design principles because they say it takes too long to talk to other stakeholders. This will result in quality issues in the long run. I have no desire to purchase a vehicle designed by China.

I am in North America but heard 2 out of 10 are expected to be cut in Europe, and supposed to be a shakeup in India also. I can tell none on my team in NA is safe just by how the managers have been acting the past week or two. But who knows what to expect? I wish there was some way to hurry it up. Every day I feel more filled with dread.

We’re still hearing 25% at the slave level. Not sure about the LL6 people who have little or no reports - TS’s, Senior Engineers, the ” Kawality “ people, the blackberry miss-fits, etc..

What I do know is the new engineering force will be working for peanuts sooner than later. The connected services people, those that keep Sync going already look like a call center from Bombay, not mention the “China for China” move. China vehicles will soon be using parts designed (read copied) in China using suppliers that are aligned with the party. Those companies not aligned with the ideals of the “people” will be pushed out.

Our department (IT) lost 1 agency, then gained 2 agency and 2 ford heads. I've been told that is it for the reorg.

Our LL4 also confirmed it's a cost-reduction target, not necessarily headcount.

Target is 20% cost reduction- not necessarily a headcount reduction. But, one would think the more you make, the more you might be a target so they can get to the 20%. And this would explain why few agency have been hit.
