Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Help anyone ?

I'm amused today that a manager in department sent an email around to everyone saying that basically they need help with other projects so if anyone has any time this week, they should volunteer and it would be decided in order of priority. Let me get right on that. After the company lays off so many people to who provide essential services, now they want help? I don't think so. There isn't even enough staff to do the projects on my team. What a joke.

This post sums up what it's like to work at TR now. Keep your head down, do your job and basically not care. Why care when management has shown it doesn't care about us? It's hard to concentrate when you're constantly worried you'll be the next to go. The whole culture is toxic. That's what periodic layoffs will do.

I’m someone that used to volunteer for stuff like this. I still do on certain key products when I know my key products. But what’s the point? My co-workers have never answered an email past 5. And I know I will be never be recognized come compensation time. So why bother? And I don’t bother anymore.

Well obviously if I had time and got such an email, I would volunteer. The bigger issue is that the layoffs have affected quality. There simply aren't enough people to do the jobs. Who suffers? Customers. Which is ironic because management claims this was done to be more customer-centric. LOL.

Didn't you read the latest newsletter (maybe it was just for Brookfield)....

It basically said, "we are thin on resources so we brought in someone to help us prioritize....".

Thin on resources? hmmm. I wonder how that came to be.

They are done, nothing left there

That would be right. Anyone who would be stupid enough to take on any extra work won’t see diddly - not even a “thank you”.

That's exactly my plan. I am actively interviewing. Can't wait to get out.

They messed up. I'm seeing people leave unexpectedly now because of the mess...unintended consequences.
