I just received a job offer which I am going to take based strictly on job security with Windstream. I have been at Windstream for a long time. I have heard stories about people turning in their notices and managers just walking them out of the building immediately and taking their laptops once they turn in their notice. They give them no chance to work a notice. Has anyone witnessed that first hand? Two, I do like what I do. My managers are good. Anyway, can they move employees to contract, part time, or as need basis? I am not in sales. I do work occasionally from home, but I need to be there for emails and occasional conference calls. Would you need to talk to your director or HR? I know they are trimming as much as possible. Thanks.

It pretty much depends on the manager and the position.
My last day is Friday. No issues at all giving or working out my 2 week notice. I actually worked 13 days instead of 10 to even out payroll.
I have also seen an employee (Manager) told they can leave as soon as they mentioned they received a job offer - they were advised their job was being eliminated and so of course they were looking and as soon as they said they found another position and wanted to talk about transition for their 2 week notice, they were immediately told they could leave asap.
Yes, I have seen people walked out when they gave their notice but they did get paid for the 2 weeks
Good luck on your new job!
As to your first question, yes I have seen people get walked out immediately after turning in a notice. I have also seen people in recent days who were allowed to work a notice. I think it depends some on the manager and the climate at the company at that moment. If they need you and are planning to backfill your position they will probably let you work your two weeks notice. Be prepared either way and good luck with your new job!
