There are hardly any DM's that are leaders at Pearson. Pearson is leader-less. Been gone 4 years and looking back can honestly say maybe 10% of "management" were actually qulified. I've never worked for a company until Pearson where management literally does not help move the needle, does not follow up on any promises, will not put their "boots on the ground" and help secure business. Sure- they may work campus with a rep- but what value do they bring? They certainly never follow up on that work trip or with the customer. Every manager at every level passes the buck down to the rep. Zero follow through, zero help. I've worked with the president of sales at my new employer several times- he always sends a follow up email, texts and calls me to see how he can help finalize the sale. He's not "above" my level. He knows if I succeed, he suceeds.
Oak is the code name for the 2018-2019 reorg under KC’s watch. Every reorg has a code name so leadership can freely discuss it without ramifications.
What is project oak?
Project Oak lives on.
The observation about sales team is accurate. And it is planned to be 90% completed by July 1.
Wait until sales is absolutely gutted and the remaining staff starts reporting to services like marketing and customer success. The days of paying out big bonuses are over and the new day of automation and services over content is taking over. The transition is already happening from a cultural standpoint and KCs haughty vision of global digital learning and AI comes to bear. Customer relationships are out, contracted IA deals requiring little to no servicing are in. The company cuts costs, eliminates personnel, doles out huge raises to execs based on shady EBITA results and the board is happy. The writing is on the wall, efforts to change sales behavior as a result of totally revamped comp plans has already started and the information dump and download is in full swing via ONECRM. Once they've squeezed you of everything you know, they've identified redundancies and automated the old sales process in your territory by injecting marketing and customer success in your place - you're gone. Don't say you weren't warned.
