Which offices are considered strategic? Is this being done in IT or are you also seeing it in other departments?
We are now required to have offshore (OGS) team members as backup or secondary on any and all work or assigned responsibilities. So it's obvious where the positions are going. Also now requiring anyone within 35 miles of a strategic office to go into the office, no exceptions. Regardless if you were hired as a FT telecommuter or not. So not only are they laying off and migrating work to offshore, but also pushing people out through changing the work environment. Way to k--l what was a great thing going.
Are Optum employees who were laid off, while Optum simultaneously put jobs to India-Ireland-Manila/brought in India-Ireland-Manila outsourced labor contacting Amy Klobuchar, Governor Walz, your local State Representative, CMS the Star and Tribune? Sometimes the people who represent the citizens of Minnesota don't realize the impact of the India/Ireland Outsourcing and sign-off on more H1B1's without understanding the impact or even have knowledge of whats going on. If enough people call in, the situations described below should get attention! Use your resources!
If you do take a proactive stance and call into your representative, posting the responses would be interesting.
They can't legally backfill positions that have been downsized; however, look for more 'reorgs' that move leadership roles to India. Lots of those people have already been hired with these replacement roles in mind.
It's a long way from over. Reductions will be ongoing every quarter well into next year.
Beware the last Tuesday of the month. Been in the same position or department for a long time? Guess what...you are no longer welcome. Not enough turnover and movement so they will create it for you. Atleast the next round will be around the start of summer, Memorial Day weekend. Or they will keep with the every other month routine. Either way if you get an impromptu meeting for the last Tuesday of the month, may as well extend that holiday weekend a few more days.
The layoffs werent done to create openings for higher roles. They were done because the board ordered us to cut 57 million dollars out of our budget. Hemsley made 63 million last year and probably needs a raise. Optum is ran by completely incompetent people with MASSIVE egos.
I'm a 28 but not a manager.
Those that were let go, were done so to create higher grade management roles. External jobs.. bringing in new people.
I know of at least 4-5 people who were let go in EUTS.
No, not in all departments
Aren't grade 29's "associate directors" and grade 28's "managers?" Which is being referenced above as being played off?
Good ol Jag ruining more lives
So far IT. Others were told to name their off shore replacement
What departments or locations?
