LOL. Did anyone in SHC actually think for one minute that the Oakbrook store would succeed?

-now paying rent after selling property to the mall.

-1/3 the size Sales column can’t support the expenses.

-customer demographics is not a SHC customer High end customer in this market afraid to be associated buying at Sears

-no or very little advertising

-no Mall entrance (da). You literally have to walk outside the back of the mall to get into the sears store.

-poor store location at back of Mall

-BC Dept, assortment 1/3 the size. (Da)

-wrong mix of product for location. Did they actually sell any of that cheap Christmas product at this store this past season. -Apparel is c-ap in this high end marketplace.

I think someone’s ego got in the way, by making this store go forward in this format.

This was a bad decision all around.

I often wonder how 1 mall sears store without customers support the level of management in any given day!

I don’t think any stores are profitable! Otherwise why wd they get rid of the cleaning crews and have sears associates now cleaning the store?

I’m surprised they still have the esculators running from store opening til close.. surprising they haven’t figured out a way to not use them!

I find it hard to believe that any store is still profitable (especially on the Kmart side where stores are pretty much void of merchandise)

Eddie has to keep the rent money in so he can continue to transfer it from what's left of Sears/Kmart to Seritage, otherwise Uncle Warren will be unhappy with his Seritage investment. Eddie's an incompetent who can't do anything without destroying billions upon billions of other people's money after all.

And another "small format" store fails and closes. When will they ever learn? The future looks bleak. New Sears the same as Old Sears.

Oh but it’s a “reimagined” store “part of its transformation”. The flagship of transformation went down in 6 north’s - folks who work for sears - run don’t walk to the nearest exit.

Whoever is running Sears, pull the darn plug now! What a total waste of time converting the Oak Brook store down to a single floor then end up closing it 6-7 months later.

It’s over!

This is a microcosm of the entire Sears chain and how it's been managed since the merger in 2005. Other failed ventures are The Great Indoors, Sears Grand, Sears Hardware, My Gofer, Orchard supply...etc etc... (I might have missed one). Face it folks, we cannot compete with Target, Home Depot and Wal-Mart. I walked into a Target store last week and the store was bright and clean with attractive displays and helpful associates. The difference between Target and Sears was startling. If the OB store failed then how on earth is the 'smaller store' concept going to work?

So if this wasn’t a profitable store, why did they throw so much money into remodeling it?

It is these smart business decisions—remodeling an unprofitable store that we close 6months later—that will eventually lead to the end of this company
