Just goes to show how out of touch they are - they could have performed this training online, nobody would have had to travel. I guess they aren't watching money that close after all!

Finding another place of employement seems like a more efficient use of your time.
For those posting that you're safe, don't believe it. This isn't my first time seeing the ship sink. No one knows if your job is safe until they exit chapter 11. You're being told that to keep you quiet and working. The last thing they need is a mass exodus before they get their back up plan in place. Not to mention the fact that if they do spin off pieces of the company for cash, don't so with low staff numbers will look bad and lessen the chance of a buyout
Windstream is a 7 billion dollar company with 6 billon dollars in debt. The interest alone was more than their profits. You're dreaming in Technicolor if you think you're untouchable. They've fired field techs who were the only ones able to service the gear in their region. They don't give a hot damn who you are, all they care about is how much of a financial liability you are
Get your resume ready and either ride it until the layoff or jump ship before it finishes sinking.
And the exec is really optimistic to say end of year. With layoffs being done unannounced and unspoken of, even in meetings and updates, you know it's already over. Between automation taking jobs, more self service options, and office size reductions, it's time to stop believing what they are spoon feeding you. The only person that gives a damn if you have a job tomorrow is you.

They said the same thing to many of the groups that ended up being outsourced - "don't worry, you will be here a long time".
Like your job will be secure and safe when everybody else in every department is getting cut. They can let you go this Monday, but she will still tell you "your job is safe"! Lol!
If you believe her, then there is nobody to blame but yourself when you get let go. She's been feeding you the Kool-aid and you aren't aware of it. Good luck!

Ok think about all the sales teams? Hell we even have retail stores still. Automation is not going to replace a single one of them for a long time. They can't get anything right. M6 was supposed to be fixed when? Customers and employees are getting fed up with all the outsourcing because you can't understand them. Please ask me to repeat what I'm saying or slow down if you can't understand me doesn't equal smart business. Quit wasting money on all those all star trips.

I work out of Twinsburg, I also work for this IT Director, and yes, she has told us again in our Tuesday call that we are safe. I have known her since we worked at our last company in which we both were let go (rif), I have zero reason not to believe her.

From my understand our director told us they had their hands tied until the April 15th/16th hearing. Now that the courts have granted them approval to move on with the next step in right sizing the company. With that comes the inevitable layoffs and spin off of assets for cash. They are shopping those business units out over the next few weeks to the highest bidder. Some of those BU's and staff that support them will leave. It's hard to say what WIN will really be when all is said and done. With the rumblings of layoffs yesterday I also believe this is the beginning of the end.
