Thread regarding SeaWorld Entertainment Inc. layoffs

Rats abandoning a sinking ship?

In orlando word is going around that the VP of culinary is quitting. Then the communication meeting that was already scheduled once was outright cancelled. This combined with additional whispers of another wave of cuts coming isnt a good sign.

This company does not care about anything that made the company successful in the past. An activist investor (Scott Ross) is trying to make millions when he can sell his 20% ownership (stock). He has verbally stateed that team member satisfaction and guest satisfaction and everything else that makes a company successful in the long run impacts short term earnings, his potential earnings. All other long term shareholders be where. He is trying to run this company into the ground to make a short term personal profit for himself. This sad human being thrives off of greed and being a downright nasty person to everyone he comes in contact with. Verbal abuse, profanity and threats are common place everyday with management. This trickles its way down throughout the entire business. This is why long term employees are leaving. They are being abused and threatened by his leadership. This type of abuse should be against the boards and senior managements policy and from some of the things I have heard is going on, quite honestly it should be against the law.

Some great long term employees at Sea World Orlando jumping ship. They’ve had enough. Entertainment, Human Resources, Zoo Ops, Water Quality.

About time the VP of Orlando Culinary goes away. All good things promised never came to fruition. Typical Leadership. Was decent in the 2010-2012 era, then the company went down the sewer. Your employees are your greatest asset. Keep hiring the people who are breathing and have a heartbreak, the ones who do not car e at all and CONTINUE treating the veteran sups and assit sups like c-ap.

Good Job SeaWorld. The company will reap what they sew. It is a shame that people are treated like c-ap who care.

In 2010 SeaWorld San Diego had a Christmas party scheduled. it was very well hyped everyone was attending and then it was abruptly canceled. Come to find out that was the day that they did their first round of major layoffs. If still worked there I would be very scared.

Can’t say I’d blame anyone for wanting to leave. It’s not like nobody else is hiring these days, why stay and put up with the shenanigans the company does to try to appease its activist investor overlord.
