It comes down to this--if you're still a manager at BN, what is the honorable thing to do? Do you try to hang on by your fingernails, and hope you don't have to bring people--your people, your booksellers, into your office and lay them off? Do you go through this again?
Or do you do your best; do you fight off the layoffs, move your booksellers around, try to keep them their jobs?
Or, do you finally just leave? Find another job, and give your notice, and hand over your keys at the end of your last shift?
If you're a leader, a real leader, you protect your people until you can't carry out the orders any more. Then you leave. This is what managers do.
The time's coming to ante up, folks.
