Any update on oracle hospitality product

What will happen to Micros, F&B ?

I recently joined the team and the product that I work on is legacy. No new features in last 4 years

HGBU (hotels) sales exec management sent email yesterday announcing the VP of the independent hotels was stepping down immediately - but staying on until July to do "special projects" and transition.

He was from the old Micros team acquired in 2015 and they've been slowly dropping off as new people from Sabre are being brought in. The new SVP&GM was hired from Sabre and word is he's cleaning house. Expecting many more sales people to drop before the end of Q4 next month.

Oracle Hospitality is a range of products. Some are end of life, but due to oracle support contracts they will be maintained and bug fixed for years but no new features.

Most of the hospitality products are very similar so your skill set is transferable to the other products.

After Oracle took over Micros they basically destroyed a well run company by forcing Oracle policies upon their customers which customers hated. Obviously the customers left and the org really struggled. However thats kinda turned around in the last year or two as Oracle undid a lot of their changes to the way we did things.

Years ago i heard rumours that Oracle would resell Hospitality if it didnt turn around, but i think i has turned around enough that they wont do this.

Legacy = RIF, you'll enjoy the supplemental servence (prize money) tax.

They should sell off the hotel business too, this was the worst acquisition ever and that's not a prize to be proud of. id--ts are still in management, customers are fleeing as fast as they can and the rest are taking Oracle to court over lousy support.

Maybe not rif'd - It's possible those people can be given the opportunity to find a home in other products, that happens sometimes in Support. I wish those folks luck!

Be nice dude, not everyone will be gone but word is the F&B arm - which is now a separate LOB under the GBU structure - is being shopped around for a divestiture. Seems the hotel side has bigger revenue potential and F&B is just pennies coming in due to Oracle's very expensive pricing. They're losing deals to pretty much everyone just on price, so that's probably why there's not a big development effort going on
