Thread regarding Ford layoffs

It is only for show

It is only for show. There are 323 external Ford job postings at present, many newly posted.

The stock price has not moved. The analysts all know it is bluster and BS.

When the round of layoffs is over Hatchet will send an email rallying the troops blowing smoke trying to make the remaining employees feel special and oh so valued Because they are the chosen ones. Some naive people will swallow it hook line and sinker, work countless uncompensated overtime, only to be canned in the next lay-off.

I’m sure i an outsider read this, he would find it ridiculous , sadly this is the truth. Originally posted by @Y54oJyl-2rcb.

Hmmm I seem to recall at least two town halls where Hackett was trying to convince the audience that we should not be concerned with privacy. He yammered on about in the horse and buggy days every one in a small town knew where you were and what you were doing at all times so it should be no big deal if the autos tracked and reported our where abouts to all interested parties - and sold that data to others. Interestingly enough, there has been a push to load Ford software onto our phones and then use our phones instead of badges for building access. Many of us have resisted that for privacy reasons. I have not observed additional beacons being installed yet though.

Track employees? That's a bit worrisome.

Electrician here. Thankfully union. I browsed the job postings and was struck by how many data scientist there are. 2000 is not enough? All I can say is we must not have very good ones as I am not seeing good data based decisions. Facilities was approached with impractical and costly schemes derived from data scientists lengthy research. Our practical cost saving suggestions were ignored. Oh well doing stupid work pays the same as working smart. Thank god I am close to retirement. I worry for my sons.

FWIW Ford wants to track all of its employees and assets movements in all of their buildings and grounds this requires installing beacons on a grid in all the buildings and grounds.

GM did the same. They hire people with different skillsets. (T_T)
