Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Attrition

It seems that at my team a lot of people are taking jobs at other companies and I know some are in talks with other companies. I wanted to ask the folks on this board are there similar experiences at other teams and locations, in other words, Is there some specific reason why people are eager to leave Q, or is that just a specific thing at my team?

Q did too much he should not do, whereas he didn't do anything he should do. That makes today's fiasco.

Getting an offer from a FAANG soon. Terrible work environment, will not be missed.

Despite the rounds of layoff the last few years, the ratio of deadweight to productive engineers seems to have gone up. A LOT. Heading to the door myself.

My team was cut in half from attrition after the layoffs in April of last year. No one was laid off, but all the smart people quickly headed for the door. So many losers hanging on for dear life now, the ship foundering, the dead weight becoming increasingly massive relative to those contributing buoyancy. Q long overdue for another round of spring cleaning.

OP, you seriously must be fuxxxing with me. There’s no way you can be oblivious to the dire situation Q is in. I left years ago because I openly predicted “the end is nigh”. The Q will die, not by a bang, but by a whimper. It will be bought, merged, sold off and divested. Irwin’s legacy destroyed in record time because the board and current executives didn’t focus on the people, only the money (for them). This story will be discussed in business schools for years to come as a perfect storm of mismanagement. Literally every major decision made on the 10th floor in the last few years has been utterly wrong. I’m not going to tell you to get out, because if you’re as stupid as you seem in your post, you found your home. Enjoy the ride.

There are still too many old timers in many teams.. Beyond Senior Staff, upward mobility is quite tough, and competition is quite high.. If you aren't getting promos every 4-5 years or so, at some point of time, the grass starts to look greener outside.

Yep. HOneB and the old-timers hanging in there for 1) visa and 2) reaping as much $$ from the cash cow

All others, moved on or moving on.
