SAP has succumbed to the pressure of stock markets. Top leaders cannot think beyond super short term goals, just get some material for talking during the quarterly results. This short sightedness trickles down the entire hierarchy. The product roadmap focuses on what should be our teched delivery, what should be sapphire delivery not beyond that. Everything is demo driven. Quickly develop and demo some c-ap and move on. All the teams i look around is focusing on what demo should be prepared which the bosses can show to their bosses.
Goals are no longer linked to pay. Working dedicatedly will not guarantee you a good pay or promotion. Line managers are only worried about headcounts and only look after the people who can negotiate well. Performance, expertise, service, loyalty are not in SAP's dictionary. Your goals will be so cleverly set so that you are forever in proving mode. I realized this very late in my career and i want all the people to realize this as well. Better go somewhere where they pay you well for not working to death. Burning yourself for the peanuts you get here is insanity. Your health is more important.
