Thread regarding SAP layoffs

The SSC was in Singapore because SAP was getting some tax benefits in earlier years when Singapore was trying to attract MNCs to have SSC in Singapore. On top of it being a customer showcase when trying to sell SAP financial solutions. It’s definitely not comparable in costs compared to neighboring countries like Philippines or Malaysia. In any case, about half the employees working in the SSC are not locals anyway.

We'll see how much of this information is exaggerated when the Ax starts falling in the UK and MEE on April 1st. UK will be first since they have weak labour laws. France, Spain & Germany will be last as the final approval comes from Works Council.

Starting March 4th, over 1000 people were let go in NA alone. Palo Alto and NSQ were hit very hard. I have not heard much about LAC. It is very bad for morale as so many that remain have no idea who will be responsible for tasks with half their teams gone. Hasso seems to have sold out on innovation.

If you are one of the affected, and you found a new role that is somewhat similar to your previous role but just pays way LESS, it is way better for you to move on. If you take on the new role, the company saves on restructuring and labor costs and in all likelihood gets closer to hiring another “local” to meet their hiring quota for TAFEP. You on the other hand get nothing. If you take an outside job, at least you get to keep the lay-off payout.

This is true. Half the floor is gone. About 80-90 of them affected

Confirmed Finance SSC at at SG MBC L6 terminated. Don’t know about the numbers but they occupy 1/3 to 1/2 of the whole floor.

Shared Service Centre. They handle your payroll, finance and other operational stuff etc.

What is ssc?

I was talking with someone from Singapore on Mon and I was told 50. She thought it was 50 but this is unconfirmed and take it with a large grain of salt.

I know folks from the Singapore office and can confirm that it happened. The affected employees have been given until 31 Dec to find another role within SAP. Many of those affected broke down.

I wouldn't put too much faith in the accuracy of this. Rumors are swirling within the company and there seems to be a tremendous amount of exaggeration in many of the comments here.
