I'd like to see if someone can chime in on good LinkedIn promotion strategies. I was laid off last week and I'd like to find a decent job - I hope LinkedIn can help but not even sure where to start. Are there any tips ex-SAP folks can share. I know there is a ton of tutorials on the web but I am afraid that I mess up things by approaching this in a loosey-goosey fashion...

Update your profile daily (before you go to bed). This will put you on top of recruiter searches for folks who updated profiles (indicates you are more likely to move on) - recuiters run lists in the morning so do it before they run it.
Ping and Direct Message every person on your list - a smiple hi and i am available may help, you never know.

Why not ask help from friends in your area.
In my experience that is the best way.
