Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

Only people can save this company

The individual who posted about AIG’s older workforce inability to adapt to technology as being a culprit for the company’s failures is so uniformed, it is just sad. I do not know what task they perform but in the world I live in large casualty accounts, technology cannot make up for horrible management practices. The company attempted to adapt cutting-edge ideas when they introduced AQI scores but found out quickly that you cannot use automated underwriting for complicated risks like you do for personal automotive insurance.

They have been slowly replacing experienced underwriters with newbies and service centers. I believe many of these individuals are talented but lack the knowledge to make a difference. Part of the reason expertise is so important in this realm is because you must be able manage relationships and demonstrate your abilities to the insured. Technology cannot do that for you!

Presently, I am finalizing terms to leave AIG and get off of this train wreck. However, I just wanted to respond to those who actually believe technology, and not people can actually save the company.

Well stated, @XXNrQWW-1wro.

I agree with: The individual who posted about AIG’s older workforce inability to adapt to technology as being a culprit for the company’s failures is so uniformed, The knowledge and experience that the older workforce has can't be replaced by any robot or technology or automation. I also agree we could do a much better job in selecting Managers. Their performance should really be evaluated on an ongoing basis just like the employees as there is a lot of abuse and mis management going on that should be addressed.
