It just wouldn't look good after all the talk of preserving jobs.

Yup. That's what I said all the way up until I was laid off.
Eddie announced 2 store closures and 1 warehouse closure during bankruptcy. Business as usual. Get ready.
Once the ink is dry on the sale Eddie will start the cuts. Cut hours, cut supply chain, cut HE, close stores, sell real estate, redistrict, eliminate ASM and DM's, totally eliminate SYW. The plans have already been drawn up, just waiting for the judges signature.
He could layoff people once the judge signs off. It's a private company now so he could do anything he wants and doesn't have to report it.
He doesn't care now about looking good or bad, he has the company wholesale now. Also, I'm pretty sure he'll spin future layoffs along the lines of:
"Well, I tried guys!! But it was ummm, the economy! Or....the store wasn't making enough money for us!".
Since he was able to con his way into getting the company he'll con his way into justifying people losing their jobs.
wouldn't the new company still be subject to the WARN act ?
Since it is a private company now there will be no announcement when stores are closing or when there are lay-offs. Esl does not have to disclose anything.
Ha ha ha ha ha.....There should not be any layoffs because it wouldn't look good???!!?
Lampert has already mentioned the likelihood of closing additional stores going forward.....which will mean more layoffs.
