Your managers, district managers, will all LIE to keep you there until the end.They KNOW what’s going on but will NOT TELL YOU. They did it last year and they are doing it NOW. If you want to believe they are your friends. THEY ARE NOT. You have only YOU to BLAME if you stay just to find you’re FIRED with nothing to show for it.

Not true.
There is no grand conspiracy happening, and generally, store managers find out
about a half hour after district managers do.
The situation of last February was not something known by SM's until 48 hours previous.
Your managers are not evil schemers leading you to the fire pit.
It's not easy for them, either.

I was asked to come back, too, after 19 years (almost had 20).
Manager always asking ... got a phone . call (twice) and when I visited store.
Minimum wage and part -time and wanted my 'expertise' to 'help out with the others'.
I actually was willing to go back part time to work in receiving (I was a receiving manager) after my severance was done with (not that I needed to but because I wanted to) Call me stupid but after 16 years the dedication I felt was there. I knew how bad it would get and I just wanted to help. Apparently the two people who I thought would have my back and would be happy to have an experienced person who would not need to be trained decided that I would be a threat to their management ego instead of a still dedicated employee who just wanted to help. So much for friends .....Nick and Steve.
Just a side note........I am now over this delusion, have been for some time now. May all your barnes and nobles implode .

Yeah, the same here. Got laid off. Then my ex-manager called me and offered a part time position - she was sweet talking, praising me. Offered less money too. I am like, do you even understand how insulting this is. I guess she was desperate.

Ours spends most of the time on their phone in the office. Comes out once in a while to yell at people.

I fired. I was told “ you weren’t fired you were laid off” JUST INSULTING!
I walked out and was told I was bad mouthed by most of the store. I hope what happened to me happens to them. Karma is knocking on the door BN.
