Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

How to get rid of middle layers.....

In my group, instead of getting rid of managers that really don't have work to do but go for a whole afternoon for lunch all the time, my senior manager re-structured all people into a horizontal line so all BAs will become Product Owners. All useless managers above them will now have no staffs and a special title in order to keep their jobs. I hope Charles Scharf reads this and get a laugh out of this. There are some layoffs that are necessary to get rid of the useless middle layers

My favorite is when the manager act like they have too much work to do. Checking statuses of all the developers and reporting it up the chains must be so exhausting

They're using the playbook from that movie 'Now You See Me'. This was done to give the managing directors enough reports. The staff now reports to the managing director, at least in the system for meeting the requirements. On the flipside, the managing director scratches the back of the 'former manager' by securing his or her job in the end run during these layoffs that will occur over the next couple of years and let's them keep their former manager salary. Now we are to swallow the BS that they are known as product owners for onboarding.

I now see managers who had 15 direct reports to no direct reports. I thought it was supposed to be at least ten direct reports; in order to maintain your management title.

Some managers, I saw, went from having more than 13 direct reports, to having no reports.

I agreed. In my team at Eagle, which is a subsidiary of BNY Mellon, my manager makes 300K+ and do nothing all day but on the internet shopping for man clothes. Lay him off would save at least a couple of people's job.
