Questions for the RX or Front Store Managers

I am new to the company and recently promoted to Store Manager after 3 months.

Q1: why does this company love pay Licensed Pharmacist to being A DL? I am sure the salaries are not cheap. 9/10 DL’s are pharmacist. 1 DL salary can pay for an entire army of store staff.

Q2: why would so many pharmacist even want the title of DL? As a pharmacist DL you don’t actually use the knowledge you studied so many years for.

Q3: who decides your budget hours? How in the world can I get anything done being the only cashier for 6 hours of my day? How do you get all your work done?

  1. They pay licensed DLs because we make 85% of our money in the pharmacy and investing that money in an army of FS labor for 15% of our business isn't logical.

  2. A licensed DL can still coach pharmacists on how to use what they learned in school.

  3. As a manager you have to actually do the job your team does with them while leading them, not just sit in the office all day. The good managers get it done, the negative thinking ones don't.

Just so you know, we are raising prices so we can pay for an overpriced mid level Feild management who is neither customer facing or have much management experience to lead us into our bleak future.

Im sure most SMs are waiting to collect there bonus (if we even get one), then they'll be on the way out. Seems like a pretty smart move to me.

For everyone saying get out now, why haven’t you quit yet? Too many people crab about this lousy company and I agree this place is the absolute worst place to work. Cvs treats us like garbage and yet you stay? Why??

Welcome to cvs, their really is no realistic way to get things done. You have to hire the best of the best(good luck with that) you have to train everyone to do everything possible, and constantly be back choosing a bench of people when someone quits. Your hours or demand is based on a crazy algorithm that no group of scientists could figure out. If you do anywhere from 30k - 90k you’re basically screwed your la or will never match your needs of the business or what you need to do basic tasks. Do yourself a favor and look for a new career or go to target or Walmart. Cvs is looking to be a health care provider not a company that sells laundry soap and candy bars. You’ll notice things getting more and more unreasonable as you progress. Good luck and start looking for something new.

Get out now while you are still fresh. They're going to run you straight into the ground. The answer is most of us aren't getting anything done unless you're working 60+ hours a week. It's a little easier in a busy store but if you're low volume and your team is just mediocre, you're going to be in for some long weeks. Run away.
