Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Does anyone actually like working at bny Mellon?

Everyone I work with hates it. They do not train us. Seems like a lot of managers hire there friends and buddies and those people seem happy. I wonder if more layoffs are to come. The morale is so low in my group it's sad. I'm wondering if I should get a job else where or ride it out until I get canned..?

I liked it until this year. The whole no WFH and saying "we need more face to face meetings" for no reason makes me want to leave. Sitting in a conference room in a meeting that I have very little input is a waste of my time when I could be on the phone at my desk or at home on the phone being productive on my computer while in the call. Now I get less work done or have to work longer to make up for it because I'm sitting in more in person meetings where I can't multitask. Every change they've forced this year has made me start to dislike this company. If they fire me I won't lose any sleep over it. I'm sure there are plenty of companies out there that treat employees better than this.

I couldn’t agree more. We were once a company filled with so much pride. People had a passion for their work and it showed through and through. Charlie Scharf has killed all of that and we are now a shell of our former selves. Charlie is the problem and needs to go. I urge everyone to write our board members. They need to hear from all of us. WRITE WRITE WRITE

Oh yes, Kelly s---ed big time. But he got $22 million when he was let go. How many employees could you keep employed with $22 million?

$70 marginal tax rate for these f---ers is just about right.

"In the case of Robert P. Kelly at Bank of New York Mellon, the company will end up paying $22 million in the third quarter, and potentially more down the road.

…the bank announced that its former chief executive, who resigned on Wednesday, would receive an immediate severance of $2 million. In addition, Mr. Kelly could receive another $4 million, based on the bank’s performance this year, and some $11.2 million from vested equity awards. He is also entitled to a pension annuity currently valued at $16.6 million."

Mr. Kelly stepped down ... because of “differences in approaches to managing the company,” the bank said. While the decision was mutual, several people close to the bank said Mr. Kelly was surprised by the board’s decision to replace him. Mr. Kelly declined to comment on Friday on both his severance package and his departure from the bank.

Bob Kelly was a Mellon outsider and definitely falls into the scum category. Despite having a horrible CEO, Mellon still had a lot of great managers. Of course they got pushed out one by one.

LOL, to J David Barnes... remember, it was Bob Kelly , the Mellon CEO who led the company after the merger. So be careful who you calling scum.

I don't like working for big firms... I am just waiting til my retirement which is 15 years away.

Honestly I like working here.

My manager is a true mentor and I like my total comp. Work hours are OK.

But.. I hate the whole C-level line up, exec mgmt is horrible. Decisions questionable.

Mellon was a great place to work until the scum from New York took us over.

It's been a slow descent into Hell ever since.
