Kmart electronics cuts?

Seems like some Kmart stores are having their electronics department slashed down to near nothing. Anyone know what’s gonna happen to this and other departments? This is a disaster waiting to happen

There dropping items/departments because vendors won’t sell to them or vendors are limiting exposure. It’s been that way for years. Those that would do business are doing it with terms that aren’t favorable to sears.

The electronics departments were removed years ago, I was one of the QMT's that did it.

Kmart's electronic department now only consists of an assortment of off-brand batteries, in limited sizes.

Kmart hasn't had a decent electronics since 2014. The following year they removed video games, DVD players, and now televisions that there isn't a need for an electronics section at all. Five years ago they competed with them, but now nothing.

@ygl That would be absolutely disastrous. The Kmart format might as well be dead at that point... it’s like they swung a sledgehammer around the store and got rid of random departments. Like what is Kmart trying to be, TJMaxx??

Electronics, sporting goods, hardware gone. Pantry will only be pet supplies , chemicals and paper. Slimmed down garden center. Dollar store format. Already have the plans going forward. Kmarts will have no full time positions and only a Sm.

@ghi

I’ve never seen garden stuff set until late February or early March around here.

Welcome to the new normal. A $5 DVD dump bin and 5 feet of pegs for random electronic/ cell phone accessories which are half empty all the time. The “nice” stores MIGHT get a couple cheap TVs to put on display.

Where have you been? Electronics was gutted at most kmarts years ago. I remember when we got rid of the register and I said to myself, “this is the beginning of the end”. This is nothing new.

I mentioned the lack of seasonal merch (lawn/garden & outdoor living) at a Kmart i visited recently and several people on this board basically said I was full of it and/or that is never set this early. Ok, sure
