Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

More layoffs in India

Nobody is being spared, apparently. Not even the cheap workforce.

The Bank of New York Mellon is doing a second round of layoffs in its technology and operations centres in Pune and Chennai, part of an effort to make it the operations nimbler.

Of course, the regulators have set a % of the total workforce that can be in India, if the total workforce is reduced, the number in India must go down as well. As simple as that.

The company outsourced because it was cheaper. They invested nothing to truly develop these staff or provide viable tools to make them successful. They got rid of them for the same reason they got rid of us - to them we are the gum on the bottom of a shoe - dreaming of the day salary expense will be zero because we will all be replaced by bots.

Keep your heads up. They can take our jobs but not our humanity. We do matter and we can do better.

It's pretty simple. Nut every one who is hired is A Superstar. Look at the left side of the bell curve. Cheap does not mean willing or capable.

It is interesting to note that this implies being done not for cost cutting purposes but quality of workforce
