Thread regarding Chesapeake Energy Corp. layoffs

Welcome to HSE venting

What did you expect? You are creating this environment where people are willing to admit their wrong doing, and then get rewarded with a public f---ging. The f---ging that occurred today could be compared to Queen Cersei being walked through the streets while the crowd chanted “Shame, Shame”. Yeah that will instill trust and admiration as well as create a culture where people are willing to come forth. That way they can have the opportunity to be placed on center stage for everyone to witness. This tactic is not one that any leader should ever use. This just shows everyone how inexperienced your leadership truely is.

OMG it’s so annoying you’re a grown adult with a job and you are too lazy to proof your post it takes 5 sec, quit being lazy and incompetent!!!! you are extremely naive if you think all of these posts are from old employees... look Jam man, we know it’s you just because your stupidity exudes in all you do even your lame writing skills... We all know you try to be the tough, lame leader you are because when your at home, you spread the jam like your told to do because that’s what happens when your neutered!!!

@xo... looks like you have time on your hands now, want to be my editor?! Low shot- sorry.

Just hate your attitude and maybe that’s why you’re not here. Look inside my friends, look inside. Stop being mean to those who are still here and we are not BN- we care about company and the people.

By the way- it’s person who, not person that.

Answer: Everyone in Infrastructure.

when two people that worked for the shoeshiner made complaints and those complaints fell on the VPs deaf ears, and then they both were let go. One might be inquisitive what that says to the whole department about how much you all are

valued. I’m just curious was the reason to let the direct reports go because of the complaint to the VP or was it the one to HR?

There’s only two people that are happy employees and it’s the brown noser who acts like a saint but deep down is a chauvinistic swine and the admin asst that cannot figure out how to make a conference call function but has the time to color paper ornaments at Xmas time... I think the VP is being guided by one brown noser that cannot distinguish a rectum from a whole in the ground. I think she’s doing her best but being misguided by a troll(rectum dweller) who is dumber than a brick.. that’s why he’s been demoted and moved to every location in the department.. who knew being inept could get you a leadership role?? Who knew an admin couldn’t complete admin duties successfully??? Baffled!

I just literally laughed out loud reading the comments from "Happy employee." The employees let go, particularly the two assigned to work for this "brown-noser" person, were never anything but pleasant, did not gossip or engage in any negativity. I've been here a while now (no, not going to give away too much), and they were among the first to make sure I felt welcome. Admittedly, I didn't know all of them well, but I certainly never heard about them being difficult, negative, or "toxic." I do know that for the ones working under BN (brown-noser) I was always greeted with a smile and often thought they must be among the happiest people in the world. They got such a raw deal.

I am just curious what the minimum hiring criteria was for a VP role. I thought that Human Resources put out that it was 15 years but if that’s true, who could have over ruled that requirement. That’s weird unless the person who was responsible for hiring was also over Human Resources.

@happy employee are you the brown noser everyone speaks of??? Must be, because Your grammar is subpar! You may want to think about proofreading before posting!! The p--p is getting deep with your post, I smell a brown noser paroozing the layoffs..

I guess I haven't been aware of a toxic culture from anyone, including those no longer with us, with the exception of the brown noser. Everyone just tolerates him and prays they never have to experience his weak leadership. I haven't had any dealings with the VP, so keeping my fingers crossed there. It's scary to think she actually threatened something like has been whispered; pretty sure that is illegal. I am also sad and disappointed in the loss of a couple of those now gone, and wish them all the best. Something really off there, knowing them. I will keep that to myself.

It’s funny how those of you posting here are here are the ones who have been laid off. Maybe you just s--- at life and your jobs. I like the new VP- she’s helping change the toxic culture created by those of you leaving. She’s been extremely supportive and I’m excited to learn from her leadership.

I am just as frustrated with this leadership as everyone else is. However you can not blame this individual for everything. This persons boss was the one that brought them in and placed this individual in this position. Their is no way that they met the minimum requirements for this role and it shows. So you can blame the boss and Human Resources for allowing this to happen. Our group will never be the same due to these actions and that is why there are several of us that will be leaving in less than 90 days.

I feel like I am a crazy person right now and waiting to wake up from this nightmare. Did our so called leaders just do that? This place has went to sh-- since our last VP. Is it too late to get a severance, because I would gladly get out of here early?

I think you reversed your analogy and meant to say wolf in sheep's clothing, but the rest of your post is on the money. Professing to be a godly person, yet engaging in nefarious activities that directly impact the morale, the energy, and the ability to move forward for the best of the company and its employees should make anyone wary of engagement with this evil creature. Winter has truly come in EHSR here at CHK.

The brown noser you speak of is a sheep In wolves clothing. If any of you have had to deal with him you know he falls under these 5 characteristics of evil....

one of the reasons we don’t “see” evil is because we find it so difficult to believe that evil individuals actually exist. We can’t imagine someone deceiving us with no conscience, hurting others with no remorse, spinning outrageous fabrications to ruin someone’s reputation, or pretending he or she is spiritually committed yet has no fear of God before his or her eyes.

The Bible clearly tells us that among God’s people there are wolves that wear sheep’s clothing (Jeremiah 23:14; Titus 1:10; Revelations 2:2). It’s true that every human heart is inclined toward sin (Romans 3:23), and that includes evil (Genesis 8:21; James 1:4). We all miss God's mark of moral perfection. However, most ordinary sinners do not happily indulge evil urges, nor do we feel good about having them. We feel ashamed and guilty, rightly so (Romans 7:19–21). These things are not true of the evil heart.

Here are five indicators that you may be dealing with an evil heart rather than an ordinary sinful heart. If so, it requires a radically different treatment approach.

  1. Evil hearts are experts at creating confusion and contention.

They twist the facts, mislead, lie, avoid taking responsibility, deny reality, make up stories, and withhold information. (Psalms 5:8; 10:7; 58:3; 109:2–5; 140:2; Proverbs 6:13,14; 6:18,19; 12:13; 16:20; 16:27, 28; 30:14; Job 15:35; Jeremiah 18:18; Nehemiah 6:8; Micah 2:1; Matthew 12:34,35; Acts 6:11–13; 2 Peter 3:16)

  1. Evil hearts are experts at fooling others with their smooth speech and flattering words.

But if you look at the fruit of their lives or the follow through of their words, you will find no real evidence of godly growth or change. It’s all smoke and mirrors. (Psalms 50:19; 52:2,3; 57:4; 59:7; 101:7; Proverbs 12:5; 26:23–26; 26:28; Job 20:12; Jeremiah 12:6; Matthew 26:59; Acts 6:11–13; Romans 16:17,18; 2 Corinthians 11:13,14; 2 Timothy 3:2–5; 3:13; Titus 1:10,16).

  1. Evil hearts crave demand and control, and their highest authority is their own self-reverence.

They reject feedback, real accountability, and make up their own rules to live by. They use Scripture to their own advantage but ignore and reject passages that might require self-correction and repentance. (Romans 2:8; Psalms 10; 36:1–4; 50:16–22; 54:5,6; 73:6–9; Proverbs 21:24; Jude 1:8–16).

  1. Evil hearts play on the sympathies of good-willed people, often trumping the grace card.

They demand mercy but give none themselves. They demand warmth, forgiveness, and intimacy from those they have harmed with no empathy for the pain they have caused and no real intention of making amends or working hard to rebuild broken trust. (Proverbs 21:10; 1 Peter 2:16; Jude 1:4).

  1. Evil hearts have no conscience, no remorse.

They do not struggle against sin or evil—they delight in it—all the while masquerading as someone of noble character. (Proverbs 2:14–15; 10:23; 12:10; 21:27,29; Isaiah 32:6; Romans 1:30; 2 Corinthians 11:13–15)

If you are a good s----up, you're fine. I've seen a lot while I have been here, and the new VP in EHSR is one of the worst I have seen, but she doesn't hold a candle to the brown-noser who has his nose so far up her behind even his eyes are brown. And he just keeps filling her full of it while he moves up the ladder, even though he is such a pathetic manager he's been demoted twice before. They just got rid of multiple extraordinary workers with a wealth of knowledge and experience. It will be interesting to see the fall-out from poor decisions play out.

Don't let of this distract you from the fact that in 1966, Al Bundy scored 4 touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk high School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus Andrew Johnson high School, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old Nemesis, Bubba "Spare tire" Dixon.

This too shall pass! However, the damage here has already been done. If I had known there were layoffs coming, I would have volunteered to take a package. At least Devon has that transparency going for them.

I was already planning on leaving due to having a job lined up after bonus time. This week just seals the deal for me. I do feel bad for the rest of you. We just stepped back to how we were 8 years ago, and those that were around during that time know how this is going to be now.
