Thread regarding Northwestern Mutual layoffs

I worked there for over 25 years and got fired. I was shocked. Glad it happened now in retrospect but this comment about technology is on point !!

I interviewed at NM on the corporate side for a sr. leadership role. Half of the senior interviewers seemed great but one of the more technical ones was just awful. They insultingly offered me a lower level title and I just laughed at them and declined. The execs at NM at way too conceited for their own good... and that's a view of why this pyramid scheme of a company sucks from the top down.

What makes you think someone is directing me to squash talk - because I disagree with you and have hope in the company? No one is making me come here. Like you, I’m interested to read about which execs slept with each other and who is getting laid off and when.

Unlike you, however, I’m not here to b--ch about how the world is unfair and some job I got fired from years ago s---ed and still s---s. Welcome to Corporate America and life. Get over it and grow up.

When it comes to the dividend rate of return, NM is dead last among the top 6 whole life companies. Schlifske and the media only report on the total dividend payout, but that’s a skewed statistic based on the number of policyholders. The current mess at NM was created by a CEO and leadership who don’t understand how to evaluate talent. They tried to boil everyone down to a line on a spreadsheet, and then viewed those employees as a liability rather than an asset. The result was to many knowledge employees being let go.

So you were a contractor that NM fired once you got found out, and now you're scamming some other big company out of tons of cash.

This place may be a circus, but it's less so with poisonous people like you out the door. Stay out of our way and let the people who care try to fix the mess people like you created. We actually care and want to do good things.

I don't work there and am grateful for that. I don't need to focus on new job. I'm a contractor and make lots more money and will retire early as a result. NM is smoke and mirrors. What matters to them is dividend payouts to policy owners who would be appalled by the practices and circus that exists there. Too bad NM writes the articles printed by the Milwaukee Journal. What happened to good old fashioned investigative reporting?

Saying that the technology is light years behind is a very broad statement. What specific technology is needed to meet the needs of the business? NM doesn’t need a Cray super computer. There’re always many technology options to solve issues, create value, and sometimes to save money (hopefully). The latest and greatest in programming languages or technology doesn’t always equal value to the business or clients.

Only joke in Milwaukee is losers like you. Tons of hard-working people at NM every day that put their heart and souls into it and are anything but a joke.

Assuming you don’t work there anymore, you really need to get a life and worry about your current job. And if you do still work there... geez, move on and get out of the way. Pathetic.
