Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Cuts are coming

Hope I’m way off here but I think there’s a lot of pain to come for employees of this company. Every article that I’ve read over the last few months suggests to me that Ford is embarking on a fundamental change of how it does business.

The language that execs are quoted using in the last few months is like nothing I’ve heard. This isn’t the usual rhetoric of old coming from the company. The car industry is changing and Ford needs to keep pace.

Cuts are coming, and some more after that and they’ll be drastic. I hate to say it but it’s the truth. And because of this I would not be surprised if the company breaks with precedent in how it has reduced headcount previously.

I just hope it’s willing to compensate employees handsomely.

I'm with you my friend and hopeful my company takes care of those of us long time "loyal" employees caught up in this. I saw a post somewhere on this site saying something about buyouts including and Soc. Security supplement from age 62 to 66. I pray this is true. Early SS benefits are weak and our current retirement pkgs cut way back at age 62 forcing you to take the early SS benefits. PLEASE FORD at least help us out until full SS eligibility.....We're forced to retire now inour late 50's and can get by on roughly 70-75% of our prior salary......The big surprise comes when those benefits drop drastically at age 62 simply because we're are SS eligible. That's garbage! Help us out Ford. The current retirement structure BITES or more folks would have taken buyout offers in in late 2018. Show compassion for those you have bled BLUE for all these years. Ford is better than this and I hold out hope.
