They exist to transfer wealth from the weak to the strong -- within the boundaries of the law (a boundary often tested). They are myopic by nature, and concepts like "the common good" and "fair play" are viewed as quixotic notions at best. We do not live in a democracy. We live in an oligarchy. It is a sad scheme as old as history.

I did a Google search on dessert history you speak of and found cookies, cakes, pies, etc. but no carcasses. Can you please educate us further?
This is dumb. Corporations are formed to produce a good people want. If not they die. The dessert of history is riddled with their carcasses. A little bit of economic hisory reading will go you a long way
They're not moral entities but in the pre-globalization era, many people were able to have careers at one company (whether it was on Wall St. or General Motors) for their entire life.
