DxC is looking for someone like you!

I’ll never go back . I’ll never refer a friend , colleague or family member to that company . I spent the last 5 years, of my 20 year stint with CSC/DXC , fighting tooth and nail for ethical treatment and recognition for what I went through .

If I would not go back to an abusive spouse , why would I go back to an abusive employer ?

Anyone without a job and health insurance would go back in a heart beat, including me. I'd keep looking hard and if I found something I would tell them on Thursday that my last day was Friday. Just like the company does today.

A 15% pay rise wouldn't cut it for me. Even at 50% I'd probably need my head examining. There's too much stress at DXC these days.

Half a million a year and I get to work from home! I might consider it! This is just fake news. For the last couple of years, the message has been the same.

‘ I need resource’

‘ok recruit some people’

‘I’ve found someone’

‘Ok it needs to be signed off by Lawrie himself’

Beeeeeeeeeeeep!! DOA

Still we can keep throwing money at digital initiatives! Let’s sit and talk about something that has nothing to do with what we’re supposed to be doing!

How much of the original CSC and HPE pedigree, skills and knowledge still exists to support the slogan "new, but not born yesterday?" Indeed, is their any pedigree left? The brand, operating model; its management have all changed and a third of the workforce have exited. So what is left in the shell now? DXC is still a relative unknown in most countries - even the ones filing lawsuits against it!

Reading the gartner report, whilst complimentary on some aspects of change, it still doesn't feel DXC is on part with its rivals in terms of revenue, despite all the many leading aquisitions it's ruined, sorry, I mean 'acquired.' DXC is still not making much of an impression in the digital space, despite all the paid-for white papers and PR. Even with the might of MS and Amazon, they still look like the small kid at school hiding behind the bullies waving his fist at everyone else. Sure, you can buy another market leader with bit-mining credentials and offer dispersed crypto transactions to clients - many of whom have still not got a reply to their incident ticket yet or have managed to get lorenzo to do half of what was promised 12 yrs ago - but given the turmoil of DXC at the moment, can clients really take the risk of investment when they can't even get resource to support what they contracted for?

The firm has moved to a model of temporary resource, high staff attrition [apart from the riffing I mean] and even graduates who don't like to overstay their welcome by more than 12 months and view DXC only as a stepping stone to a better job. Once they've grabbed the 'valuable experience' in writing emails, writing a few lines of code (yes, people still do that); raising incidents and getting on-the-job training from colleagues, then they are off for riches galore.

So what is the culture now? I guess we have to read what newstarts have been saying since April 2017, summarised here.

CULTURE

A great place to work with some excellent people

Great colleagues, frendly staff (popular 'pro'); Support amonst peers

Freedom to work independently; A fair bit of autonomy

Flexible working/hours (purchase holidays, work from home, decent benefits)

Interesting technical work

Support amonst peers

Graduate scheme

A fair bit of autonomy

Poor corporate culture; poor morale

Company leadership only care about share price

Constant threat of redundancy

Job security, pay freeze and useless top level management

Always looking over your shoulder (many comments on insecure job environment)

Poor working atmosphere

No job security - Constant threat of redundancy (the most common negative)

Endless cost cutting

Poor Processes; Poor Planning

rapid business change

a one-size fits all organisation

Not very rewarding

No work life balance

PAY AND CONDITIONS

No pay rises, little chance of promotion

Poor hikes (no salary increases)

Minimum wage, 'stuck wages'

No bonuses; No pay rises, long hours, pressure, lack of investment

Workload overload

minimum overtime

ADVANCEMENT

No career Development;Poor Career advancement (little support for progression common complaint)

If promoted, no salary increase

Poor career progression

Expected to work long hours for no pay

MANAGEMENT

Cruel Management, no respect of staff

Cut, cut, cut - directionless and apalling management

Long hours, no support

Poor communication (appeared several times)No training; 'staff training forbidden'

UNSPECIFIC PROS

"You get paid"

"Paid once a month"

"You have a job! Horray!"

"You get an email address"

"Good team whilst it lasted"

"aha next joke"

'Great core staff (reducing every quarter)'

"Nothing", "not applicable", "local to my home", "there used to be a lot"

I personally wouldn't go back to that cesspit for 5 times the pitiful wage I was on 2 years ago. Good riddance!

Is DXC peddling fake news? Surely they cannot be serious seeking to rehire WFR'd former employees? If DXC really want me then my terms are:

  1. 15% pay rise on top of my previous pay (to restore equity to market rates)

  2. free parking on premises

  3. free training that will benefit career (not that tacky cr@p on the intranet which delivers no value)

  4. committed management that cares about their staff, rather than backstabbing and being condescending

  5. being valued as a person rather than just a cell in a spreadsheet.

All very reasonable terms!
